How to change the DNS settings on an Android set-top box to 8.8.8.8.8: detailed instructions
Sometimes you may need to change the DNS settings on your Android set-top box to improve internet performance or to get around regional restrictions. In this post, we’ll show you step by step how to do it.
Open “Settings”
On the main screen of your Android TV or set-top box, go to the ‘Settings’ menu.
Go to network settings
Find and click the “Network” or “Network & Internet” option in the settings menu. The name may vary slightly depending on your version of Android.
Choose your network
Select the network you are connected to. This will usually be a Wi-Fi network or a wired (Ethernet) connection.
Change IP settings
Find and click on the “IP Settings” option and change it from “DHCP” to “Static”.
Change your DNS settings
You should now be able to change your DNS settings. “DNS 1” is the primary DNS and “DNS 2” is the backup DNS. Change the value of “DNS 1” to “8.8.8.8”.
Save changes
When you have finished changing your settings, click “Save” or “Apply”.
Your Android TV or set-top box will now use Google DNS (8.8.8.8.8) for its internet connection. This can help improve the speed and stability of your internet, and may also allow you to access certain content sources with regional restrictions.
